Sarah Coldwell
I am a self taught artist originally from Richmond Virginia. After living in Los Angeles and on the South Shore of Massachusetts, I now call Wilmington, North Carolina home.
I began painting following a difficult time in my life and immediately fell for the magic that happens when you get lost in a painting and feel your way through.
My work explores the balance between movement and stillness through layered, often garden-inspired abstraction --- creating paintings that feel expressive and quietly livable.
My painting style is intuitive --- using gestural markings, layering and spontaneity, resulting in bold color conversations and dynamic play. You can find me dancing while I paint!
My work is currently held in private collections in Virginia, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Illinois and California.
